Operation Caring Classroom

Operation Caring Classroom is an annual education initiative that increases awareness, appreciation and support among children for military families across the United States. The goal of this project is to educate children on the meaning of Veterans Day and to help them understand the sacrifice service members and their families make each day.

In 2012, over 50,000 students in 105 schools showed their support by building strength chains, coloring pictures, and writing letters of support. Children extend support and hope to their peers, especially those facing the hardships of parental deployments, frequent moves, and loss of a loved one. They also have the opportunity to thank children in military families for serving our country and communities and for taking on extra responsibilities at home while a parent serves overseas.

In 2007, the foundation was presented with a “Service and Dedication Award” by the History Channel recognizing the program’s accomplishments.
