This Program provides tangible comfort to the families of Service Members dealing with
a recent loss.
The foundation’s Bereavement Program helps to augment funeral costs and
travel arrangements for military families in times of mourning. In an attempt
to help cope with a family’s loss, the AFF offers family retreats and provides
for professional grief counseling.
The program offers a wide range of support for families in need. Assisting with
estate settlement and investment planning services are additional forms of assistance
offered by the foundation. In addition, scholarships for spouses as well as children
are available through the Foundations Yellow Ribbon Scholarship Fund.
Since its creation, the program has assisted many families with bereavement related
expenses. Whether covering the cost of a funeral procession, hotel costs, receptions,
flower arrangements, flags for burial, arranging for retreats; the foundation has maintained
a promise of Serving Those Who Serve, especially in trying times.
In 2007, President George W. Bush presented the Medal of Honor to the parents of Corporal
Jason Dunham at a White House ceremony. Corporal Dunham lost his life in combat while
serving our nation and the AFF was proud to lend support to his family. The AFF was
honored to provide $5,000 to cover hotel costs for all family and friends who traveled
from Scio, NY to Washington, DC for the presentation.
