For the past 13 years the Armed Forces Foundation has been a proud
sponsor of the Jerry Woods Congressional Golf and Crab charity golf tournament
at Queenstown Harbor golf links in Queenstown, Maryland.
Named for the late Jerry Woods, the founder of the tournament and passionate
supporter of the military community, this tournament raises funds for the
Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC. Each year corporate sponsors
come out to play a best ball 4-man tournament followed by an all you can
eat crab lunch and awards ceremony at Harris Crab House.
The tournament’s patron, Jerry Woods served as a fighter pilot in the
Vietnam era and more recently in the private sector as Director of Legislative
Affairs for Northrop Grumman. A lifetime supporter of the military, Mr. Woods
devoted his tremendous personal energy to supporting the Armed Forces Retirement
Home. It was through this passion that the Congressional Golf and Crab tournament
came into being, and the AFF hopes to honor Mr. Woods’ legacy by continuing
the tournament in his name and continuing to donate all proceeds to the Armed
Forces Retirement Home.
