Since 2008 the Armed Forces Foundation has partnered with stand-up comedian
Ron White for an annual comedy show at the Warner Theatre in Washington,
DC. Ron White, a Navy veteran himself, brings his routine of laughter
and storytelling to an audience of paying supporters and wounded service
members.
This past year's show, held in March of 2010, raised over $150,000
in funds for the AFF. More personally, Ron White and crew took an entire
day out of their busy schedule to host a barbecue for wounded troops at the
Walter Reed Army Medical Center where Ron and crew spent the afternoon mingling
with the troops and their families.
Though the past few years proved a success for Ron and the AFF,
this year he and the folks at Country Music Television decided
to kick things up a notch and take the show on the road to Country
Music’s
greatest shrine, the Grand Ole Opry House. On February 15, 2011,
Ron White will host a Celebrity Salute to the Troops with musical
guests Rascal Flatts and other to-be-announced performers. The
evening features some very special guests, 500 of our closest
friends from Fort Campbell Kentucky. Ron has invited Active Duty
Service members, the Spouses of Deployed Soldiers and Surviving
Spouses, from the base, to come in for a night of music, laughter
and special recognition.
